Looking at only incidents where CivilianKIA was greater than 0, I got 1458 events. In OpenOffice Calc (after downloading the convert text-to-numbers extension) I used DataPilot to divide these incidents

So, there are a total of 3994 civilian deaths in the Afghan War Diary. Most of them are attributed to Enemy Action (716) or Explosive Hazard (2650). Checking these numbers against the media data on civilian deaths (passive sampling) would be useful. It would also be useful to compare these to any data the Afghans have.
